The Queensland Art Gallery showcased The Obliteration Room instillation by artist Yayoi Kusama.
Developed for crowd participation, Kusama created a domestic space with home objects like a couch, chairs, a table and even a piano painted stark white. It created the feel of a blank canvas.
Once this was completed, the next step was to bring in the public, mostly kids into this space. They were given stickers of different colors and shapes and were left free to paste them wherever they wished.
Soon the walls and every other white surface was obliterated with vivacious colors and the whole exercise made for a stunning, fascinating work of art.
