The one question everyone has on their minds once fashion week wraps up is…Whats trending in India??
Well, I’m finally proud and relieved that the fashion industries support to Indian weaves and textiles has finally been brought to the spotlight .
Having spent several years during my interim as a designer, I worked closely with benarasi weavers till the modern fad took over killing tradition and made in India . Which is why a special mention is due to Shaina NC, who collaborated with The Bhau daji laud museum in Mumbai and put up a fabulous exhibition curated with several Indian designers showcasing dresses using Paithani , brocades and rich indian textiles.
The Winter/ Festive week, which ended yesterday, supported this cause by dedicating a textile day where several designers showcased a rich mix of Indo-Westerns.
-Andhra-based designer Gaurang Shah revived the Kanjeevaram, Khadi, Uppada, and highlighted embroideries such as zardosi, gotta, chikankari.
–Neeta Lulla showcased the modern day bride every so beautifully, with the stunning Nishka Lulla as showstopper and reinterpreted the classic bengali bride
-Anita Dongre ended day 2 at LFW with her ‘Grassroot’ collection that was dedicated to reviving traditional craftsmanship such as Ahir embroidery from Gujarat, and ikat from Karnataka and Hyderabad amidst others.
Satya Paul: Another wonderful depiction of Indian Artisanal handwork, which served as an inspiration to Satya Paul’s A/W’15 collection.
A stepping stone initated indeed, which I’m absolutely delighted to support #ReinventBenaras#Makeinindia

The world’s most exclusive handbag designer might be in jeopardy of losing it’s most prized possession: The Birkin Bag
Style icon Jane Birkin, who inspired Hermes to make one of the world’s most exclusive handbag ranges, now wants her name taken off a crocodile-skin model.
Why may you ask?
The British actress seems to be troubled by the “cruel practices” used to kill the reptiles in order to make these coveted totes.
Earlier this week, she demanded the French luxury fashion house to remove her name from the Birkin Croco “until better practices in line with international norms can be put in place.”
Here’s how the brand responded:
“Hermes respects and shares her emotions and was also shocked by the images recently broadcast,” the company said in a statement.
“Her comments do not in any way influence the friendship and confidence that we have shared for many years.”
Look’s like we’re just going to have to wait and watch this one out. Will they? Won’t they?
What do you think?
I’ve always admired this trend – it makes any piece look edgy instantly! It’s the easiest way to take an extremely formal outfit from bordering on boring, to chic.
The mantra here is “Just add some studs” ; whether it’s a bag, shoes or a jacket – the studs do the trick!
Here’s a quick round up of my absolutely favorite studded merchandise for this season!
1) Valentino – Rockstud metallic textured-leather point-toe flats
This modern classic went from being an edgy piece to an absolute must-have
2) Jimmy Choo – Riley studded leather shoulder bag
When one of my favorite brands encompasses my favorite trend – it most definitely is a match made in heaven
3) MAJE – Jacob fringed studded suede mini skirt
This suede skirt is finished with silver studs and fringing to accentuate and soften the thigh-grazing hem. Pair with a plain white button down to look effortlessly chic.
4) MCM- TANTRIS ZIPPED CROSSBODY WALLET
For those who cant commit to the trend completely, but want to give it a shot – this wallet is perfect. The pretty pastels coupled with the studs is the ideal combination.
5) PRADA: Studded cat-eye acetate sunglasses
Prada’s signature cat-eye sunglasses are embellished with silver studs to emphasize the flattering shape. Wear yours with everything from LBDs to biker jackets.
Let me know which of the pieces were your favorite in the comments below!
The Monsoon calls for something fun, something that livens up any outfit. I’m absolutely loving statement bags and clutches, and when I say statement – I mean bags and clutches with actual statements on them.

It’s always good to have a little fun, don’t you think?
Dolce & Gabbana’s Italian-made cotton coat is one of my favorite ways to shield ourselves from inclement weather.
Pretty and practical, it is coated with waterproof PU and decorated with orange blossoms in shades of green, white and yellow. This piece is fully lined in polka-dot satin for a smooth finish. Don’t you love it?
