Last week, one of my favorite menswear designers Sir Paul Smith received France’s highest honor, recognizing his “indelible mark on French fashion”
The British designer was presented with the Légion d’Honneur – the highest distinction in France – by the French Ambassador, Sylvie Bermann, during a ceremony at the French Residence in London. On average only 10 Brits receive a Légion d’honneur each year.
In his twenties Paul Smith opened a tiny shop in Nottingham in 1970, called Paul Smith Vetements pour Hommes, and then six years later he showed his first menswear collection in Paris. He continued to have a strong connection with Paris throughout his career and still regularly shows his menswear collection in Paris Fashion Week.
Congratulations Sir Paul, You’ve really out done yourself!
Such an honor to meet the man himself!
While the delay in the release of the most anticipated worldwide phenomena may have left many people in India highly dissapointed, I thought to myself, well if they can’t watch him just yet, at least we can get the men to look like him!Why not right?
Here’s how all you men can look as dapper as Mr Grey.As for the women reading this, take notes for your man..consider this your post valentine’s day present:
Every fashion week just seems to get more interesting for Sir Paul Smith, this fall winter glances back to an early catwalk show he held in Paris’s Andrée Putman gallery which saw an innovative use of colorful tailoring set against an austere concrete backdrop. Now presenting a confident and contemporary reinterpretation; tonal suits have an updated feel with exaggerated shoulders and high waists but are consistently wearable.
Reminiscent of a ‘70s silhouette, familiar shapes are reenergised; wide shoulders, peak lapels and high breaks in suit jackets are matched by cinched waists on trousers and either slight flares or cropped legs. In all instances tailoring is functional with a distinctive silhouette to complement.
Full-length sheepskin coats bring the warmth that a cosmopolitan customer requires but remaining respectful of the principles that have kept Paul Smith stable for forty years. Occasionally the sheepskin is used as a detail on shoes and bags to update everyday utilitarian styles. Elsewhere loafers, straight shoes and desert boots have added modernity with exaggerated soles and clean lines.
Definitely a warm and Luxurious interpretation of Fall Winter from #HausOfPaulSmith – don’t you think?
Aren’t you just tired of learning all the jazz for the gorgeous women out there?
It was about time, we share a few tricks with the men to make sure they match up to the impeccably dressed women out there!
Who better to learn from than the hottest man on the block-Fawad Khan.
Listen up all you men…This party season, you ought to dress to impress…here’s showing you how it’s done.
Don’t forget to add that dash of style when you step out this December!
Fringes and raw edges are making it’s way back and HOW!
Right from New York fashion week to Paris Fashion Week, it’s literally dominating the Spring Summer 2015 runway collections worldwide !
Shoes, Bags, Hats, dresses, skirts, tops…you name it, the fringing technique seems to be the new craze on the block!
This rugged and unpolished trend is one to watch out for. I can’t wait to see them hit the stores fresh off the runway!
Here’s a look at some of the interesting things I’ve come across lately:
This September, Paul Smith gets set for a season of music!
From Greene Street in New York to Via Manzoni in Milan, Boulevard Raspail in Paris and London’s Covent Garden, Paul Smith shops worldwide will host a series of events featuring some of the most hotly anticipated musicians in collaboration with Beat – a music magazine
That’s not it! To Add that Oomph factor, each performance will take place against he backdrop of new season men’s and women’s catwalk collections.
An exclusive event with around 50 people going to a maximum of 100 will be held in each of the above-mentioned boutiques. The atmosphere is sure to be cool, laid back, and rock-ish one to match the AW14 collection for sure!
These in-store events are sure to create buzz around the AW14 collection and bring more energy and dynamism!
Guess we’ll just have to wait and watch! I for one am Excited!
