Milan Diaries: Emporio Armani’s Quirky Elegance

Its very hard to put in to words exactly how exciting fashion week is, especially in Milan. The city is buzzing with designers, models, bloggers amongst the locals.

Needless to say I was very very excited to attend the Emporio Armani show and watch Mr. Armani’s creations down the runway!

And boy, was i blown away – The maestro had stuck the delicate balance of Quirky an elegant like no one else has!

On a black background more often than on a white one, a visual explosion of digital signs and designs, including a sectioned smile, and multi-coloured ‘scratches’.

Clean lines and clear shapes. Silhouetted, rounded shoulders for high-tech heroines.
Short jumpsuits with short trousers that look like skirts, slim trousers, and mini-but-not-micro skirts

Sleek shoes with covered heels add feminine flair and lengthen the leg. Sparkle-galore lends a three-dimensional touch to evening  wear.

Mumbai – A walk down Kala Ghoda

The Kala Ghoda annual festival ends this weekend . A colourful energy . The street was bustling with creativity from  different states and remote villages of India . Installations , Pottery , sari weavers,  hand crafted   jewellery ,  bed linen,  artists with paintings ,  age old art of kalamkari , kantha , shibori tie and dye fabrics . There was so many beautiful Indian handicrafts which just need branding , logos and marketing to be internationally acclaimed . Thank you NGO ‘s for giving them the opportunity .

As you walk behind this street going further into Kala Ghoda you see how this area is emerging as the designer destination with  bigger brands and designers  having the most beautiful concept stores.  3 floors of Delhi Art Gallery ,  small design store Filter,  Leading Indian designer name Sabyasachi ,  quirky designer Masaaba ,  jaapanese inspired Obataimu n a store worth seeing where one can see the kaarigars and machines through the glass .

Kala Ghoda is must a visit when in Mumbai .

When In London – P.S.

While in London for work, I took time out to visit the Paul Smith exhibit at the Design Museum. After a long, rather picturesque taxi ride along the London Bridge, I finally made it to the venue and I was immediately transported into Paul Smith’s world.

Love Diane…

Diane Von Furstenberg, a household name in this fashion-crazy world, celebrated the 40th birthday of her iconic ‘Wrap Dress’ recently.

While the design itself is simple, the ease and elegance of the dress is what makes you purchase one as soon as you lay your eyes on it.

Every season, she innovates the classic wrap and brings about a whole new wave of prints and variations.

A signature to the DvF line, ‘The Wrap’ as old as the style may be, grabs our fancy every season – It’s eternal.

Take a look at what the celebrations and the journey looked like.
